Extinguishing the Flames
Yesterday afternoon the Ingersoll Louie's Pizza and Pasta Express headed south for a matinee battle with the red hot Alymer Flames.
In what was being built as a battle of two top teams in the league turned out to be a one sided affair with the Express extinguishing the Flames. The boys controlled the majority of the play in the first but ran into a little penalty trouble late in the period. While short handed, Urijah Jewkes chipped the puck past the Flames defender and went in alone going top shelf glove side past the netminder.
With the boys leading 1-0 going into the second, they built off the shorty and took complete control of the game when Eli North scored with Jewkes getting the helper on the goal. With the boys cycling the puck and wearing down the Flames the captain Jeremy Stiles scored late in the period making it 3-0 going to the third. Kellen Whetstone was credited with the assist.
In the third with the Flames almost extinguished, Aaden Workman went top shelf early in the period making it 4-0. Colton Thompson had the helper on the goal.
The Flames had no answer for the cycling of the puck in the offensive zone and smothering defense the Express put on display yesterday. Jaxon Pinard earned the shut out for the victory.
The Ingersoll Louie's Pizza and Pasta U15 Express are building for a busy December. They have an exhibition game on Sunday night vs. Mt Brydges at the barn in Ingersoll. They play Tuesday in Wellesley vs the Twin Centre Stars and at home Thursday vs Tillsonburg before heading to Fort Erie for their third tournament of the season.
