Game #12 - Express win at home vs Aylmer
After a 2-1 victory last night over Tillsonburg, the Express were back at it, this time hosting the Aylmer Flames. In net for the Louie's Pizza and Pasta was Tanner Belore who had not seen any game action for a while, due to the gap in our schedule.
Tonight's contest was played at a much more fast pace, as both teams seemed to have a little more pep in their step, however either team generated much in the way of any quality scoring chances, and the teams ended the first scoreless.
In the 2nd, Josh Robles, who has been dynamite to watch lately, got us on the board as he rushed in on a 2 on 1 down the left side, and elected to shoot, and did not disappoint, as he launched a low laser beam passed the Flames netminder to give the Express a 1-0 lead. It would not take long to increase our lead by two as the boys kept the pressure on and Jeremy Stiles behind the Flames goal hit the goalie's stick on a centering and the puck went right through the five hole. Give credit to the Aylmer netminder who had 15 shots directed it at him during the 2nd frame, as Aylmer was fortunate to only be down by 2, after two periods.
Josh Robles would give us a three goal cushion late in the third, as his hard work and determination paid off, scoring another highlight reel goal. As for Tanner, he had to make a couple of key saves, as Aylmer gave a little push late in the game. Unfortunately, Belore's shutout was not to be tonight, as the Flames were able to get one over on him blocker side. The final buzzer sounded as the Express, playing another sound game came away with a 3-1 victory.
The boys are back in action Saturday, as we travel to Tavistock to play the Titans. A shout out to the U15 A/E Dove Dental Squad, as they compete in their Silverstick tourney this weekend in Ayr. Best of luck to them this weekend!!
