Game # 8 - Express Extinguish the Flames
We headed down Hwy 73 for a match with the Aylmer Flames, our first meeting of the season. Manning the net tonight would be Tanner Belore, coming off a shutout vs Tavistock.

The team probably played what I felt was the best first period of the season, and they seemed to want to get off to a good start tonight after settling for a tie in Ayr on Friday night. The line of Josh Robles, Colton MacPherson and Westin Matsumoto were flying all night, and they owned the scoresheet for the Express in the first. Robles would open the scoring after Macpherson made a couple nice moves coming out of the corner and getting a nice shot off on the Flames netminder. After the initial save, Robles banged in the loose puck to give us an early lead, one the boys would not relinquish. On their next shift a nice piece of passing resulted in Robles tickling the twine for his second of the night with a mid air tap in, with both Matsumoto and Macpherson earning assists. Josh would complete the hat trick as Macpherson made a great pass to Robles who buried it to give the visitors a 3-0 lead.

Eli North would score in the second as he intercepted a pass while we were shorthanded, and he usually does, gave us something to chat about, as his beautiful release caught the goalie off guard, as he buried it over the shoulder of the Aylmer goaltender.

Belore had not been tested much all evening, but when called upon he was steady. Aylmer would unfortunately break the shutout on the power play, as Tanner made the save on the first shot, but the rebound was just out of his reach. After an unexpected flood between the 2nd and 3rd periods, the boys came back for the final 15 minutes, and did what they do best, play shutdown hockey, as the Flames tried to push a little harder, the boys would have none of it and continued to play a complete team game until the final buzzer. Final was the Express with a 4-1 victory.

Next action is on Thursday, as they host the Tornadoes from Tillsonburg at the Madhouse. Way to go Louie's U15 Rep team!! Keep up the great play.
