U11AE Thamesford Pizza ... Playoff Round up
With playoffs in full swing, The Express U11AE squad is starting to heat up!!!

February 7

Tavistock Titans at Ingersoll Express

On the back, of superb goaltending by Stella Crane, the Express carried the play against the Titans, testing their goaltender a number of times.  In the end, it was a 1-1 draw, in which saw Benny Lamers feed Nicholas Muller, for the only Express marker.
An excellent effort by the team in this game, as described by associate coach Matt Garner!

Ingersoll Express at St George Generals

On an ice covered 403, the Express hit the road to visit the newly relegated Generals of St George.  The Express knew they would be in tough (down a body), against a team that has battled with the U11 tier 1 teams in the regular season.  The Generals were hungry and they came out firing, taking a 3-0 lead into the second period.  The Express battled hard and Stella did well to keep the game within striking distance, but the Generals proved to be too tough on this occasion.  Ginos by Muller and Boll and Apples from Gee, Garner, Walters and Boll.
Associate coach Dustin Campbell, stated after the game "we'll chalk this one up as a learning experience"

St George Generals at Ingersoll Express

It was a quick turn-around, as the Generals visited the Express on Saint Valentines Day.  The Express were in a bit of a pickle in this one, before they even hit the ice, as key contributors (Mason Walters and Stella Crane) were late in the day scratches!  Without a rostered goalie available, Benny Lamers stepped up, after a three year hiatus from the crease, and strapped on the pads, in what proved to be a challenging evening!  The Generals struck early and often and as it turned out, the Express got a "MOOSE" hung on them!  10-0 final score.
Lamers was quoted after the game "Man, Stella's helmet is heavy!"  The players were disappointed in the result, but left the old barn with smiles, as on ice helper Brady Lamers, surprised the group with Tim Hortons TimBits as a post game treat.

Ingersoll Express at Tavistock Titans

The Express were excited to get back on the horse and hit the road up HWY 59 north to Tavistock.  Their goalie was stingy in the last contest, keeping the game at a draw, but there was a sense of excitement in the town that is considered the Crokinole Capital of Canada!  The Express took the ice and were flying, opening the scoring in the first with tucks from Jackson Plewes and Chase Boll.  The Express continued to force the issue and Plewes sniped another in the second period.  "Stellar" Crane was a wall on the night, but the Titans battled hard and snuck a couple past her in the third, but it was too little, too late.  The Express took the contest 3-2.  A pair of Apples from Jake Mezenberg, as well as helpers from Garner and Purcell.
The media was looking for a quote from coach Chris Lamers following the game, but due to his exuberant cheering from the bench, was unable to provide an articulate statement :-)

Ingersoll Express at Caledonia Thunder

The Express took to the road and enjoyed the afternoon scenic tour along the Grand River, to visit the Thunder.  The Express were feeling good, coming off the victory over the Titans, and were excited to get things going vs Caledonia, in the Sunday matinee.  Chase Boll opened the scoring in the first period for the Express, but the Thunder answered on the next shift.  Boll supplied more offense in the second period, netting a pair of tucks for the HAT TRICK, but the Thunder answered back, with a pair of their own.  With the score deadlocked at 3's heading into the third, the battle continued defensively, with both teams taking care of their own end!  In the dying minutes of the game, Nicholas Muller was sprung on a break and buried the game winner!  The Express stayed hot and won the game 4-3, in a penalty filled affair!
