INGERSOLL EXPRESS ATOM REP VS. TAVISTOCK TITANS
After a fun
filled weekend at the Silver Stick Tournament in Wasaga Beach, The Ingersoll
Express were ready to take on The Tavistock Titans on home ice.
The first period had a tight start with both teams very focused on scoring, but Ingersoll’s defense was on point and kept the puck away from the net. With four minutes left of the first period, Rydan scores the first goal of the evening. Shortly after, Ingersoll gets a penalty, but they manage to short handedly hold off the Titans.
It was an even battle during the second period as both Ingersoll and Tavistock fought to score a goal. No one wanted to give up any chances, but The Express are applying enough pressure and Rydan scores a second goal assisted by Levon and Caleb. Everyone is extremely focused and in the game! The Express get a second penalty making the team work harder to keep that puck away from the net. Peter makes a great save late in the second to protect Ingersoll’s lead. After Tavistock gets a penalty, they manage to make a shorthanded breakaway and score. The period ends and the score is 2-1 for Ingersoll.
Peter makes another great save on a breakaway opportunity for the Titans 50 seconds into the third period. Caleb grinds through the Titans and scores goal number three for The Express, putting the lead back to two. The Express were making great passes and working hard as a team to protect their lead. Kohen takes a shot from the blue line but is denied by Tavistock. The crowd is cheering and the clock seems to be moving in slow motion. There is a scramble in front of Peter and Tavistock manages to squeak one in bringing the score to 3-2 for Ingersoll. The remaining minutes were very tense but exciting for everyone at the game. Ingersoll shuts down Tavistock with a brilliant show of grit! The final score is 3-2 for The Ingersoll Express and they send off their competitors with a traditional ice tap for a game well played. Way to go Express!
