Express Score Three Short Handed Goals in Win Over Wolfpack
Article Submitted by Mike Martineau

The Shooters Photography Midget LL team moved into sole possession of first place in the A division standings with a 4-2 victory over the Paris LL1 team Sunday evening.

Ingersoll got on the board first, just two minutes after the initial puck drop.  A wrist shot by Tanner George was kicked out into the slot area, where big defenseman Colin Van Dyk pounced on the loose puck and wired a shot past the Paris netminder. The Wolfpack tied things up a minute later, but before the period ended the Express regained the lead when Alex Schuett took a return pass from Cohen Belore and scored a short-handed goal.

Ingersoll continued to press in the second. Max Branderhorst took advantage of a Paris giveaway to set up Matt Molnar in front of the net, but number 11 was not able to beat the Paris goalkeeper. Later in the period, with Brendan Aarts serving a minor penalty, Schuett managed to muscle his way between the Paris defenders and break in all alone for his second short-handed goal of the contest. Two minutes later, Branderhorst scored a short-handed goal of his own, converting a nice pass from Cohen Belore to put Ingersoll ahead by three. Blue-liner Kieghan Osmond unleashed a blistering slap shot in the dying minutes of the period, but his shot whistled wide of the post.

The Wolfpack made things interesting when they potted their second goal of the match with just over six minutes remaining.  At the four-minute mark, Matt Molnar used his speed to accelerate away from the Paris defenders, only to be denied by the Wolfpack puck-stopper. With the Express on the powerplay and a minute left on the clock, Tanner George rang a shot off the crossbar, but the puck stayed out and Ingersoll held on for the 4-2 victory.

The Express take to the ice again on February 16th when they travel to Delhi to tangle with the struggling Rockets.
