In
their first game since reaching the semi-finals of the International Silver
Stick Tournament in Niagara Region, the Shooters Photography Midget Local
League team faced off against the Paris Wolfpack Sunday evening at the
Ingersoll Memorial Arena.
With forwards Tanner George, Cohen Belore and Austin Brunelle out of the line up, defenseman Daniel Martineau was moved up to play right wing alongside Liam Knox and Matt Molnar. The trio generated some quality scoring chances.
The visiting team got on the board first, just two minutes into the opening frame, but Ben Scott quickly evened things up with a powerplay goal for the Express. Daniel Pullen drew an assist on the play. Paris regained the lead with a minute left to play in the first.
The Wolfpack jumped out to a two-goal lead in the second, but talented forwards Alex Schuett and Max Branderhorst responded for the Express, notching a goal each and ringing a shot off the post. Dylan Daltrey assisted on the Schuett goal.
Play got a bit chippy in the third, with both teams being assessed minor penalties on several occasions. The Wolfpack pressed for the go-ahead goal while Ingersoll was short handed, but Dawson Sharpe shut the door and the game ended in a 3-3 draw.
The Midget team will take to the ice again next week with games against Waterford and Paris.
