Tavistock vs Ingersoll – “First period rust”
Monday October 21st had us heading to an early game in Tavistock. The Express entered the ice, warmed up, and braced ourselves for the swarm of Tavey bees. Less than a minute into the first, Tavistock scored their first goal.
Still reeling from the first few minutes of the game, and dusting off some first period rust,
we continued to try and swat the bees, which landed us in the box. Tavistock used the opening to their advantage and put another puck in over the net. Not ready to let the first period end without a point in on our side of the board, #18 sent a pass to #14 who tucks it in Tavey’s net.
The second period made way to more goals from the Express, as we heated things up like fire ants. #14 assists #13 in scoring our second goal of the evening, proving persistence pays off. Our 3rd
goal slid right through the Tavistock goaltenders five-hole, score by #14, assisted by #15. #19 joins the list of goal scorers with 2 goals, one fired from the blueline which sailed slowly over the goal line as the 2nd period buzzer sounded.
Period three begins and #20 decides to try his luck from the blueline and is successful in putting goal #6 on the board. #17,Jax, decides it’s time to put in his first goal of the season with a little help from #9. After a quick Tavistock goalie switch, #19 assists #11, Luke, in scoring another point for the Express. As time winds down on the clock, #19 tries his luck once more, but the puck rings off the post opening up a rebound for #18 to pop it
back in the net where it belongs. 9-2 end to the game and an early night home for the Express parents.
