“Not the letter we wanted”
Wednesday October 9th found us driving to meet the Simcoe Warriors for an 8pm game. Not much could be said for the first period other than it lasted 10 minutes with an extremely slow start on both ends of the ice. As time ticked off on the clock, Ingersoll found themselves warming the penalty box with a few players serving some not so recognizable penalties.

Starting the 2nd period, short on bench players, Simcoe puts one pass us with 12:09 on the clock. #19 comes back on that goal with a beauty skate up the ice and tries to sneak one by the Warriors goaltender with no success. Time continued to count down as we started to wonder how we would even out the scoreboard. Thankfully, #20 had a plan to power up the ice sending a pass to Michael, #10, who sends the puck through the bars, 1-1.

As Ingersoll and Simcoe fans ponder whether they are indeed watching the same game, #19 finds himself flying back up the ice. This time forcing the puck passed the Warriors in net. 2-1 Ingersoll going into the third.

Time for the 3rd period to begin and sides seem drawn until a Simcoe player finds themselves headed to the “thinking spot.” Soon joined by an additional Warrior, 2 heads might be better than one. The Express set their sights on this opportunity and use the recent events to help then add another point to the visitor’s side of the board. Scored again by #10 with help from line mates #18 and #9. Feeling a little better about the board, Ingersoll continues to travel the puck up and down the ice.

Not being able to walk away from the 3rd period penalty lbox Ingersoll players enter like a revolving door as #21 and #13 take turns in the box. Minutes pass and neither side seems to be able to get the puck passed through the opposite goalies. Brody #12 tries his best to hold the puck along the boards, but the Warriors knock it loose and send one into our net. 3-2, us. With little time left in the game, Simcoe pulls their goalie and sends another player on to the ice to help tie up the game. At 31.8 seconds left on the clock, they are successful.  A 3-3 tie ends the game.

It’s not a loss, but not a win either. Until next time, Simcoe. GO EXPRESS, Go!
