Game #8 S.C Playoffs - Express squeak out a win in Aylmer
With the Southern Counties 2nd half winding down, the Express had a chance to move into 2nd place with a win against a team that has given us a good run for our money all season, the Aylmer Flames. With the Express on the verge of starting their semi final OMHA series vs Strathroy, this would be a great opportunity to tune up for the series opener Thursday night. Starting in goal for the Express was Tanner Belore.

Aylmer came out with a push early, drawing a penalty as Cole McNeil went to the box for tripping. The boys held their ground and limited the Flames chances. Late in the period Eli North hit a milestone for the season, scoring his 50th goal of the season, after a great individual effort to give the Express the lead. The boys would carry the play and the period ended 1-0.

Period two was more of the same, as the boys played hard, and threw a lot rubber at the net, but it was those pesky Flames tying the game on a great shot that beat Belore. Shortly thereafter, the Flames would take an interference call of their own, and the Express capitalized on the man advantage, as Eli netted number 51 after a shot from the point from Brody Huitema found the net, Jeremy Stiles took a whack at it, before being gift wrapped to North who deposited into the empty cage. The period ended at 2-1 for the Express, and an uneventful third period came and went as the scoreless period sealed the victory for the Express. They will need to ratchet up the intensity verses the Rocket on Thursday, before the series shifts back to the madhouse on Saturday night at 5pm for game 2 of the series. Come on out and support a great group of kids, as they work hard towards their goal of playing in an OMHA final to represent their hometown. Best of luck boys!!!
