This past weekend your Ingersoll Peewee Rep team travelled into unfamiliar territory in Thorold Ontario.  They competed in the Beaverloch Farms Hockey Tournament.  The tournament consisted of four teams.

On Friday Ingersoll faced off against the host team Thorold BlackHawks.  Ingersoll had just suffered a tough loss to Ayr on Thursday and looked to rebound.  Ingersoll settled in nicely in the first game of the tournament as they skate away with a 3-0 victory.  This loss for Thorold was their only third loss of the season.  Although Ingersoll came away with the victory, the post game concern was what time curfew would be that night at the hotel.

On Saturday morning Ingersoll played against a growing rival in Petrolia.  The two teams are well matched against one another, resulting in a back and forth hockey game.  However Ingersoll was able to skate to their second victory of the tournament 2-1.  Ingersoll would then faceoff in their final round robin game against Highland Storm.  The two teams battled back and forth for the first two periods with a score of 3-2 after two.  However Ingersoll gained momentum in the third and finished the game with a 7-2 victory.  This third victory of the tournament would place Ingersoll in first and setup a Sunday morning rematch against Highland Storm.

Sunday morning saw Ingersoll skate away with a semis final victory of 10-0.  This gave Ingersoll their third time this year playing in the finals of a tournament.  It was going to be a rematch of opening night, Ingersoll versus Thorold.  Ingersoll started out of the gates in the Championship game a little slow.  Trailing 1-0 after one complete period.  However Ingersoll found their groove and scored to tie it in the first shift of the second period.  The rest of regulation saw end to end action with chances from both teams to win it.  But on this day it was not enough and the game headed to overtime.  Ingersoll had their backs against the wall early in the extra period as they were on a penalty kill for the first two minutes.  Backs against the wall or not Ingersoll prevailed and were able to kill it off.  Ingersoll fought hard and created several chances in the extra period, however this game would not be solved in team play.

The game was going to a shootout.  The result in the end was not what Ingersoll players, fans and coaches wished for.  Ingersoll lost in the shootout.  It was a disappointing loss, but one that should not be ashamed of.  These boys provided for their parents and siblings a great weekend of Hockey.  These boys work for every inch they take on the ice and it is obviously showing in results.  It was a great weekend from the goalie, to the defence, to the forwards, everyone gave an amazing effort and all heads should be held high.

Your Ingersoll Express Peewee Rep team will be traveling to St George on Wednesday this week, and then home to Aylmer for a big game Thursday night.  They will then finish the week off on Sunday by traveling to their Highway 19 rivals Tillsonburg.

Congrats Boys and Keep it going.
