11-11-2018 Express Rebound with Solid Effort in Shutout Win Over Port Dover.
The Carmeuse Lime LL#2 team bounced back Sunday at home capitalizing on solid team play and a strong outing from goalie Dawson Sharpe as they defeated the Port Dover Pirates 3-0.

The two teams battled back and forth for the first two periods as neither side could capitalize thanks in part to solid goaltending from both goalies. Each team was unable to take advantage of their lone powerplay opportunities in a well played hockey game.

Heading into the third at 0-0 both teams were looking for that one break to open the scoring. That opportunity came 2:52 into the third when Shaun Holt banked a puck off the boards out of his own zone. This caught the Port Dover defence flat footed, and Avery Shrigley picked up the puck in the neutral zone and skated in down the right wing. Shrigley would cut across the slot and fire a shot past the Pirates goalie over his blocker.

The Express would add to their lead with 6:19 left in the game when Dylan Goyette would lead a nice rush down the left wing and fired a shot that forced the Port Dover goalie into the initial save. Goyette and Shrigley would battle hard in front of the net for the loose puck. Goyette would eventually send the puck back to Colin VanDyk at the point. VanDyk's wrist managed to find it's way through the maze of players in front of the Port Dover net and beat the goalie top corner on the blocker side.

The Express would round out the scoring with 0:05 left on the clock as the Pirates had the goalie pulled for a sixth skater. Off the faceoff Goyette would pick up a loose puck in the left corner of the Express end and fire a shot the length of the ice into the empty Pirates net.

Sharpe's solid play and rebound control combined with a solid team effort on the defensive side were the keys to Ingersoll earning their first shutout of the season.
