Another season has come to an end
In comparaison to other sports, a hockey season will span many months but when the end of a season comes to an end, players and parents alike are surprised to see it go by so fast.
The Canadian Tire LL2 Atom team had many successes to celebrate this year.
When the second half of the season started in January, our Canadian Tire LL2 team had managed to secure the final B division spot. Players knew full well the road ahead would be a tough one. With a slow start in January, our players started to really come together by the beginning of February. Games were hard fought. And the weather often meant drives to the arena in snowy blizzards or early morning practices in the middle of February cold spells.
Coaches and parents alike were so proud to see this group of young, enthusiastic players start to gel together as a team and eventually climb the ranks making it to their semi-final game against the Paris Wolfpack. This game was by far the best game our boys played. Every player left their heart on the ice and played with a fierceness not seen to date in our previous games. Unfortunately, our team would lose out by one point in a 2-1 final score. Despite this loss, our team finished 4th in our division!
This past weekend, our team finished off their season with one last tournament in Tillsonburg. Our boys would play three game with no wins. However, we played competitively against those 3 A division teams and were all saddened to see another season come to end. As the boys discussed who would move on to Pee Wee next year and who would stay behind to see another Atom season, the true spirit of hockey shone through as the promise of playing together in the years to come brought a smile to everyone's face.
