Express Split First Two Games at Silver Stick
The Ingersoll Carmeuse Lime Express split the first two games as the Mooretown Silver Stick, losing 6-3 to the New Castle Stars then rebounding to beat the Listowel Cyclones 5-1.  

Playing their first game in 11 days, the 2018/19 Silver Stick tournament got off to a slow start for Ingersoll dropping the first game to New Castle on Thursday by score of 6-3. The game started well for the Express with Eric Savoie setting up Mike Roteveel at 2:46 into the first period.  New Castle would respond with two quick goals to take a 2-1 lead before Carter Franklin would score for the Express 19 seconds later with and assist form Derek Johnson to tie the game at 2-2.  New Castle would then take a 3-2 lead with 35 seconds left in the first period.  The teams would trade goals in the second period with Ingersoll’s goal coming from Eric Savoie with an assist by Qwertay Dei.  New Castle would put the game away in the third with two unanswered goals.

Friday was a new day and a rejuvenated Express team would take to the ice to play the Listowel Cyclones.  Ingersoll would open the scoring with Tyler Goyette setting up Hayden Synder with 7:44 left in the first period.  Qwertay Dei with assists from Derek Johnson and Christian Johnson would score the only goal of the second period to take a 2-0 lead into the third period.  Derek Johnson’s unassisted goal 37 seconds into the third gave the Express a 3-0 lead.  Ingersoll would further expand their lead to  4-0 with a goal by Ethan Hurst with assists from Hayden Synder and Carter Franklin.  Listowel would score their only goal with 6:29 left in the third. However Ingersoll would respond 29 seconds later with Carter Franklin setting up Eric Savoie to make the final score 5-1.

In Friday’s other action in the Juvenile B division, the Lincoln Blades defeated the New Castle Stars 4-1.  With each team having played two games, the Express find themselves sitting atop a tightly contested division with each team having 1 win and 1 loss records.  The standings are as follows:

                Ingersoll        11 pts

                Lincoln          10 pts

                New Castle    10 pts

                Listowel          9 pts

(Note – 2 points awarded for winning each period and 4 points for winning the game – 1 point for a tied period and 2 points for a tied game) 

Next action for Ingersoll comes on Saturday when they take on the Lincoln Blades at 1:30 in Mooretown.  The Express will also play in a semifinal game on Saturday evening at either 7:30 pm or 9:00 pm depending on the final standings after round robin play.
