On Tuesday February 20th the Peewee AE Dove Dental Express welcomed the Port Dover Peewee Rep team for their first meeting this year.
Period 1 seen lots of back & forth action from both teams & Ingersoll outshooting Port Dover throughout the period. At 5:37 #8 R. Skevington made a pass to #9 K Clifford who was moving toward the net. He took a shot which deflected off a Port Dover player's stick, caught the puck, put it on the ice in front of him & ripped a shot into the net. Period 1 ended with the Express leading 1-0.
Period 2 started to get interesting. At 7:40 #9 K Clifford made a pass to #6 L. Dewit who fired a shot. #17 J. Heeney was in front of the net to slide the puck right past the goalie. Then at 5:47 #12 L. Skevington took a shot, #5 G. Folkema was there for the rebound & put it past the goalie. Express leading 3-0. At 2:57 #16 A. Paterson passed the puck to #14 B. Williams who was took the puck up the ice & fired top corner. At 2:19 #16 A Paterson passed the puck to #2 E. Cuthbert who passed it to #17 J. Heeney who put the puck in the back of the net for his 2nd of the game. Throughout this period the boys did a great job of focusing on their game & not letting the distractions of Port Dover & all of the penalties distract them from the great game they have been playing. End of the 2nd found the Dove Dental peewee AE's ahead 5-0.
The third period seen the boys continue to pepper the Dover goalie with shots. At 11:18 #6 L. Dewit took a shot, #17 J. Heeney touched the rebound to #2 E. Cuthbert who shot top corner. Then at 8:18 #12 L. Skevington passed the puck to #14 B. Williams who made the pass to #17 J. Heeney who scored five hole. Hat trick for captain Jake! At 5:20 Port Dover was able to get one past #1 E. Spence who stood strong the whole game. Only 8 seconds later Port Dover was able to score again. With 2:17 left #15 C. Freeman passed the puck ahead to #17 J. Heeney. He made a great shot on net & #2 E. Cuthbert was standing in front to tip it in.
Final score: Ingersoll 8 Port Dover 2.
Great job by all of the defense with their strong play & not allowing a lot of shots on net. Lots of great passing by every player on the team. Great game boys!
