The Bantam AE Thamesford Pizza side
dropped Game 2 of their first round OMHA series against Paris and now trail the
series 4 points – 0. Although a better effort was given in game 2, the Ingersoll
side could not overcome numerous turnovers and costly penalties that allowed
the visiting Paris Wolf Pack to leave Ingersoll with a 4-2 victory.
In the opening game neither team found themselves in the penalty box and that trend continued through the first period of last nights game. However the Express would find their way to the penalty box seven times between the second and third periods, while the Wolf Pack would receive five penalties of their own.
The visitors would open the scoring with 7:32 left in the first when the Express failed to cleanly clear their defensive zone. A missed pass by Ingersoll let a Paris forward jump on the puck and fire a wrist shot just under the cross bar past goalie Dawson Sharpe. Paris would capitalize again with 3:23 left when the Express could not clear a rebound in front of Sharpe. Sharpe was unable to freeze the puck and the Wolf Pack would find the loose puck and put it in for a 2-0 lead after the first.

The Express would cut into the Paris lead early in the second when Express winger Kieghan Osmond broke into the Paris zone and fed a cross ice pass to winger Ben Scott. Scott would take the pass and fire a wrist shot that beat the Paris goalie high on the blocker side.
Ingersoll turned the momentum for a short time but another turnover would find the back of the Ingersoll net restoring the Wolf Pack lead with 9:24 left in the second. The home sides frustration would start to boil over and they would find themselves short handed late in the second period when the Express were assessed a 4 minute head checking penalty. The Express would kill of the first minor penalty but the visitors would make them pay in the second minor penalty and extend their lead to 4-1 at the end of the second.
Matt and Emmitt battle down low.
Both teams would combine for 9 minor penalties in the final period, that saw the Express unable to cut into the Paris lead. The home side would eventually cut the lead to two when Center Tyler Bergman took a pass from defenseman Cam White and beat the Paris goalie. Ingersoll would then pull their goalie with about 1:30 left in the game and almost cut the lead to one, but center Emmitt Robinson’s shot clanged off the goal post and the Paris goalie made sure it was not in the net.
The series continues this Friday back in Paris with the Express needing a win to extend the series.
