10-02-2017: Paris Wolfpack (2) @ Ingersoll Thamesford Pizza BANTAM AE REP (4)
After a couple of hard fought exhibition tune-ups, the Ingersoll Thamesford Pizza Bantam AE Rep team finally opened their league schedule at home on Monday night against the Paris Wolfpack, taking the visitors down 4-2 with a great team effort.

The home side got the game started off quickly when Center Matt Overeem opened the scoring :14 seconds into the game after taking a nice feed from Joey Parkhill.

Paris responded later in the period on the powerplay after Ingersoll was given a double minor. It took the visitors :14 seconds on the powerplay to tie the game at 1-1. Ingersoll was assessed another penalty shortly after the tying goal and found themselves at a 5 on 3 disadvantage. Some great effort on the penalty kill and key stops by goalie Greg Doyle kept the game tied up heading into the second period.

Paris would take the lead with 10:40 left in the second period after Doyle made a great save on a partial breakaway. The rebound came off Doyle's pad and right on to the stick of a Paris forward trailing the play. The puck found the back of the net to give the visitors the lead.

The ensuing faceoff saw Thamesford Pizza Center Isaiah DeWit win the faceoff and skate through the Wolfpack defense, fire a wrist shot past the goalie to tie the game up just :06 seconds after Paris had taken the lead.

The game remained tied until 6:55 left in the third. DeWit would get his second goal of the game on the powerplay, assisted by Overeem and winger Matt Molnar, to give the home side the lead 3-2.

Paris would pull their goalie with 1:40 left in the game. After sustaining the Paris pressure in their defensive zone the puck was cleared out. Parkhill scooped up the puck in the neutral zone and won a foot race. He deposited the final goal of the game into the open net with :53 seconds left to secure the 4-2 victory.

Special teams and timely goaltending played a key factor in the team win. Thamesford Pizza found themselves penalized six times, including a two man short-handed situation in the first, but managed to hold the visitors to just one powerplay goal in the six opportunities. The home side found themselves with three powerplay opportunities and went 1 for 3 with the man advantage.

The team's next league game is scheduled Oct. 14 when they visit the Ayr Flames for an 8:15 game start.
