THREE IN A ROW
Since their semi-finalist finish at Silver Stick, Carmeuse Lime Ltd has outscored their opponents 18 to 4 and solidified a three game winning streak after winning their first playoff game against the visiting Hespler Shamrocks last Saturday night at the IDMC.

As the last minute of the first period counted down, it appeared the Shamrocks would carry the momentum of a one goal lead into the second period, that is until Carmeuse’s Canden Addley, #19, assisted by Mitch Graham, #8, evened the score with just forty-seven seconds remaining.

The Shamrocks would regain the lead at 11:28 of the second period.  It would be the last goal allowed by Carmeuse net-minder Darren Robinson.  Just three minutes later Kirk Meek, #12, assisted by Tanner Moon, #16, and Ryan Archer, #17, evened the score on a powerplay opportunity.   It appeared the second period would end like the first, in a tie; that is until Moon put the puck past the Shamrocks’ net-minder in the last second of the period.

Carmeuse took the momentum into the third.  Determined to put some distance between themselves and the Shamrocks, Carmeuse would score three times in the period (9:11, Graham, assisted by Meek and Luke Zegers, #3;    8:01, Moon assisted by Archer and at 5:12 Dakota Lednicky, #10, assisted by Archer and Tyler Goyette, #15).

Ken Zegers, head coach for Carmeuse Lime Ltd, had this to say during the postgame media conference, “Great first playoff game. Darren had a great game between the pipes.  It was 2-2 until a buzzer beater at the end of the second by Tanner Moon, with no time left on the clock, to put us ahead for good.  This is good momentum heading into the playoffs.”

Carmeuse will be looking to extend their winning streak as they start round one of OMHA Playdowns against the Ayr Flames next Saturday night, February 10 at 9:30 PM at the IDMC.
