CARMEUSE BREAKS EVEN ON THE ROAD
Mitch Graham, #8, defense, for the Carmeuse Lime Ltd Ingersoll Express had the first and final word for the team’s offense last weekend, scoring the only Carmeuse goal in the 4-1 loss in New Hamburg Saturday night and the final goal in the 5-0 win Sunday evening in Belmont; both unassisted.

By the end of the first period Saturday night in New Hamburg, it was obvious the team was feeling the absence of the four players unable to make the game.   The New Hamburg Huskies kept Carmeuse within their own end and kept Carmeuse net-minder Darren Robinson very busy.  Robinson would come up with some big saves while the team continued to work to generate some offense.  As the final minutes of the second period counted down Graham would pay a successful visit to the Huskies’ net-minder, posting the team’s single goal for the game.

COACH.jpgWith Saturday’s loss in the rear view mirror, Carmeuse Lime Ltd made its way to Belmont Sunday evening to face-off against the Rangers at 6:00 PM.  On this night the team was down three players, but the bench would be full with the installment of Clayton Hammond, Tanner Gray and Max Shelton from the Unifor Local 88 Midget Rep team.  These players were unavailable Saturday night, as Unifor Local 88 was busy posting a win against the visiting St. George Generals at the IDMC.

Canden Addley, #19, assisted by Graham and Clayton Hammond, #7, made good on a powerplay opportunity at 7:32 of the first period to get Carmeuse on the board.  Just a little over two minutes later, Dakota Lednicky, #10, and Tanner Schinkel, #12, offered their services to Tanner Moon, #16, who made the score 2-0 and 5:08.

Hammond, assisted by Graham and Luke Zegers, #3, started the team’s second period offensive bid at 9:51.  That goal was just nicely posted when Graham scored unassisted, at 8:12. The final two minutes were counting down as Moon, assisted by Noah Haig, #14, and Jeff Couse, #5, finished the bid for the second period.  The scoreboard displayed 5-0 in favour of Carmeuse Lime as the teams made their way to their respective dressing rooms.

Throughout the third period Carmeuse continued to play motivated hockey; the penalty kill continued to be flawless and net-minder, Ryan Calder, #33, continued to capably make the saves, when needed.  Graham would score with only 8.2 seconds on the clock, putting an exclamation mark on his team’s effort.
