CARMEUSE LIME CUT BY BLADES
Carmeuse Lime Ltd Ingersoll Express Juvenile Rep proved that you can’t score from the penalty box, last Saturday night at the Ingersoll District Memorial Centre (IDMC), where their plan of a season-opening win was sharply cut by the Lincoln Blades.

The hinges on the door of each penalty box proved to be working well. A total of eight penalties were called, five of those belonging to the Express.   Each team incurred a Checking from Behind penalty, which also includes a one-game suspension.  As the period finally drew to a close, the Express were in a two-goal deficit.

Each team settled into playing hockey during the second period as three penalties were called; only one of those belonged to the Express.  The Express would also claim their first goal of the game as Tanner Shinkel offered his assistance to Kirk Meek.  The Blades would score three more, making the score 5-1, after two full periods.

Shinkel, assisted by Joel Couse, would score for the Express at 13:12 the third period.  Just a little over two minutes later, the Blades would score their only goal of the period, making the score 6-2 Lincoln, which is where it stayed until the period ended.  There were only two penalties called in the third and both belonged to the Express.

It must be noted that of the six goals scored by Lincoln only one of those was a powerplay goal, which speaks very highly for the Express’ penalty kill.  As exciting as it was, here's hoping we don’t see it tested quite so much in the future!

Also to be noted are the absences of Tyler Goyette and Tanner Moon, who are currently serving suspensions incurred during the 2016-17 season.  Both Goyette and Moon have the ability to create opportunities and score goals.  Goyette will miss one more game and Moon will miss four.  Joining them in the gallery will be Jeff Couse who was called for Checking from Behind during last Saturday’s game.

The Express were on the ice last night in Thamesford, preparing for their busy schedule of three games in three days this weekend.
