Month of October 2017

The month of October saw our Express open with back to back ties, first to Burford Coyotes 2-2, then to Ayr Flames 2-2. The first win of the month came at the expense of the Cayuga Stars and that was a 10-0 shutout win. Rebounding from the tie at the beginning of the month to Burford our boys would redeem themselves and beat the Coyotes at home 6-1, nice way to start.
We then entered the Caledonia Challenge Cup, we went 3-0 in round robin play beating Mount Bridges Cougars 4-3, then Welland Tigers 4-1 followed Erie North Shore Storm 3-1. Going 3-0 sent us into the semifinals against the home team Caledonia Thunder. This game had us taking the lead into the third period but we were not able to hold off the home team and the game went to overtime. With a untimely penalty we started the overtime frame short handed. The Thunder would capitalize on this mistake and beat our Express 3-2.
Our regular season would resume only 5 days later and we would be meeting the Caledonia Thunder at home now and again redeeming the loss in their tournament and we went on to win 3-2. One day later we were off to the Aylmer Flames at their home the East Elgin arena keeping our season on a roll our boys again put up another W and won 4-3.
On October 24th the Express train rolled into Tavistock for a match against the Titans. Home ice was not to their advantage and the Express roller out a 8-1 win.
Finishing off the month we hosted the Waterford Wildcats and sent them on their way with a 6-0 loss.
Although the tournament may not have gone our way the regular season is rolling right a long on the express track.
