We have already made it to game 6 and it was Ingersoll Novice – LL1 Anderson Appliances at home against the Waterford Wildcats. This was our first game against the Wildcats.
Period 1 was one of our better first periods. There was a great shot by the Wildcats early in the period but we had great defense and save by our goalie Logan Walters. The first goal was at 3:06 left in the first and was a first goal for the season by #18 Gregory West assisted by #9 Kyle Verhoeven and #5 Graeme Fleming. With only 1:32 left in the period there was another great save by Logan.
Second period started off fast and we had some great defense work by Teddy Schmitt #8. At 5:52 #18 Gregory West got our second goal of the game assisted by #5 Graeme Fleming. This was quickly followed at 5:18 by another goal for Ingersoll this time #5 Graeme assisted by #9 Kyle. Score at this point was 3-0 for Ingersoll. Waterford Wildcats were a team to contend with though and were playing hard and got two goals back to back first one at 4:33 by player #13 G. Thomas and the second at 3:15 again player #13 assisted by #9 Z. Rainey. The game was getting close with a score of 3-2 and Ingersoll was feeling the pressure and got another goal in at 2:58 left by #16 Aaden Workman.
The third period we led 4-2 but it had been a close game throughout with both teams working hard. The Waterford Wildcats were still battling hard and had two great attempts at goals early in the period. Both were stopped or reflected by our goalie #30 Logan Walters. Our first penalty of the season came next #4 Owen for tripping while he was trying very hard to stop another attempt on goal. The Wildcats were now on a power play. We made it through the power play unscathed but then Waterford scored with 1:33 left #5 E. MacTavish assisted by #13 G. Thomas. They were not going out without a fight. At 12.3 the Wildcats nearly tied up the game but we had another fantastic save by #30 Logan.
What a fantastic game to watch, great work team! Congratulations go to Gregory West for his first two goals of the season, Graeme for his first goal and for two assists, Kyle on two assists and Aaden for another goal making it four so far this season. As well a big shout out to Logan Walters for a great game.
