Atom Express LL Vision Property Mgmt. vs. Tillsonburg Tornadoes #4
The Express train rumbled into Tillsonburg Tuesday night to see the Tornadoes host the Vision Property Mgmt. squad from Ingersoll.  Ingersoll is coming off a tough loss on Sunday to Simcoe where the team really started to come together and every player worked hard every shift.  The action was end to end from the puck drop and Ingersoll did a great job working the boards and battling for possession. The Express train was at chugging at full steam and lots of shots sailed to the net.  The defence did a great job holding the puck in on offence and hustling back to prevent the breakaways.  Ingersoll's goalie #1 Damien Vandamme was sharp and made multiple outstanding stops.

Half of the 1st period disappeared from the clock before the scoring started. Tillsonburg was really putting on the pressure and did a great job of keeping the puck in the Ingersoll end of the rink. The puck came free in the corner and there was a nice pass out to the winger at the hash mark.  It was a quick shot but #1 Damien made a great stop off the pads but the puck landed right on the stick of another Tornado who was all alone and slid the puck just inside the post.  The whistle blew at 3:17 and the ref signalled a goal.   Tillsonburg went straight back on the offence and the puck was not bouncing Ingersoll's way as they struggled to get anything going.  The puck circled around the Express net a few times until a Tornado backhand lifted the puck high on the glove side and snuck inside the cross bar with 43 seconds remaining.  The horn would sound to end the period and the scoreboard read 2-0 for the home team.
Ingersoll tried to regroup after a team chat at the bench and the second period was underway.   Tillsonburg pushed the puck back into the Ingersoll zone and a shot from the left hash mark connected with the edge of the goal stick.  The puck flipped up, end over end and bounced off the topside of the cross bar and continued on to the back end boards.  It looked like the score was going to be 3-0 but finally Ingersoll caught a break.  The visitors used it their advantage moved the puck back to the home team's end of the rink.  After some great battling behind the net and along the side boards by #4 Kadin Vandamme and #5 Danny Kaiser, the pass landed on the stick of #2 Nathan Kapitor.  Nathan reached back and fired a hard shot along the ice towards the net.  It travelled between a few pairs of legs and with the goalie screened it came to rest in the back of the net.  Great goal Nathan!  That put Ingersoll on the board and the score was now 2-1.  The Express train was back on track and #13 Cole Brownscombe had a great rush up the centre of the ice.  The Tornado goalie stood his ground and Cole was denied a goal on a hard shot.  Tillsonburg turned the puck around and charged back down the ice finding Ingersoll on a line change.  With only 1 player back the Tornado players used some teamwork to get the puck behind a sprawling Damien and light the lamp.  The score was now 3-1 with 5:57 to go in the second.  Ingersoll responded with some great shifts and lots of pressure on the Tornado Goal Keeper.  The Tillsonburg team was getting frustrated and after some nice moves by #3 Owen VanderBaan to get the puck back in the offensive end, he was taken off his skates by a charging Tornado.  The ref raised his arm and signalled a 2 minute penalty for Body Checking.  Ingersoll was on the power play and #17 JR Sholdice worked his way up the ice with some great stick handling and finished off the rush with a hard shot on net.  The goalie made the save but it was an awesome effort JR.  The Tornados killed off the penalty and the period would end with a score of 3-1.
The third period was barely underway when the whistle was blown and the ref signalled that Ingersoll would be back on the power play as a Tornado headed to the box for a 2 minute tripping penalty.  Tillsonburg would do an excellent job of clearing the puck and preventing any good scoring chances.  The penalty would expire with the score unchanged.  The play was started to slow as the players from both team where running out of steam.  #3 Nicolas Carney showed off his stick handling skills but the puck could not find its way to the net.  The puck was getting tossed from end to end and lots of whistles gave the players much needed line changes.  The score would remain 3-1 for the duration of the period and the Express Team would need to look to the next game for a win.
The last two games have gave the fans lots to cheer about with all the hard work and team play.  Keep it up team and good things will happen!
