Liftlock Tournament Champs!
“Maximum Effort Never Quit” has been the mantra of this team from the first tryout.  This weekend in Peterborough your Brokerlink Express Atom Rep team fully applied this mentality to go 6 and 0 and win their division of 20 teams in the 59th Annual Liftlock Atom Tournament.

Making the championship even sweeter was defeating 2 Minor Atom AA teams in the semi-final and finals.  Topping it all off were the number of positive comments about our spirited team play from tournament conveners who have been involved with this tourney for the last 40 years as well as current Peterborough Petes on hand to watch and present trophies in our final game.  Comments like, “that is the most entertaining game I have seen in this tournament in 20 years” and “I hear you are the team to

watch” and “your players never give up!  The other team has a 2 on 1 and every time your backcheckers catch up!”  Our commitment to forecheck hard and backcheck harder paid off in frustrating our opponents and leading to a paltry 4 goals against over 6 games.  Our commitment to taking away time and space lead to multiple offensive zone turnovers that we were able to turn in to shots on net and ultimately goals.  Our commitment to giving 110% every shift in every area of the ice lead to this championship.  Hockey is a game best played over 200 feet of ice as a team.  We achieved that this weekend.

Congratulations boys!  We all look forward to watching this brand of hockey as we begin OMHAs and continue Southern Counties playoffs.

"Hockey’s a funny game. You have to prove yourself every shift, every game. It’s not up to anybody else. You have to take pride in yourself."
