Max Partlo Memorial Hockey Tournament
The Ingersoll novice LL#1 Anderson Appliance hockey team traveled to Tillsonburg this past weekend to play in the Max Partlo Memorial hockey tournament.

The first game would have us up against a familiar opponent, Tillsonburg Tornadoes #1, early Friday morning. Even though game time was shortly after sunrise the Ingersoll team was raring to go and excited to finish off the season in style. Drew P. would open the scoring in the first period for Ingersoll going top shelf stunning the Tornadoes goalie. Tillsonburg would tie it up in the second with the score 1-1 going into the third. Brandt K. saw an opportunity early in the third scoring just 8 seconds into the period to take the lead. Ingersoll never looked backed, scoring 2 more in the third to shut down the Tornadoes winning 4-1.

On Saturday morning Ingersoll faced a tough Dresden team that kept the Express on their toes. Mason D. scored early in the first, however, with each Ingersoll goal the Dresden team would answer back. The score was 3-3 late in the third and Ingersoll's Brandt K. buried the puck deep in the Dresden net with only 37 seconds to go, recording a hat-trick and scoring the winning goal!

Finishing at the top of Pool A, Ingersoll enjoyed a bye to the semifinals and a relaxing Saturday night, resting and preparing for what would be the comeback game of the year! In the semi-finals, the Anderson Appliances team would be matched up against a great team from Saugeen Shores.  When the puck dropped at 10:15 on Sunday, both teams came out hot, shooting and skating with a fury in the first period. The Anderson Appliances goalie, Graeme. A put on a clinic in the first, stopping every shot that he faced and even getting a fist pump from the referees.  The other end for Saugeen Shores was also in the hot seat as Ingersoll was unable to put anything past him in the first. The second period came along and the scoring began, with 5 minutes remaining in the second Saugeen Shores came in and put one in the ack of the net making the score 1-0. Play continued for a bit until Brandt. K went in on a breakaway and was hauled down by #15 of Saugeen and drew a penalty. With only a few seconds left on the power play, around the 2:30 mark of the 2nd, Ingersoll got on the scoreboard with a goal from Brandt. K which was assisted by Drew. P tying the game 1-1. In the 3rd is where the real action began, the teams once again went back and forth trading opportunities till Saugeen scored at the 9-minute mark to take the lead 2-1. Ingersoll fought hard to get back into the game but unfortunately Saugeen scored again with 46 seconds remaining to shut the door on Ingersoll with a 3-1 lead…. Or so they thought. Ingersoll awoke with rage at that point and began their incredible come back. As soon as the puck was dropped a 6th man was put on and goalie Graeme. A was pulled. Ingersoll got the puck into the offensive zone and got a shot on net, which Saugeen covered and a faceoff was called. Ingersoll took control after the faceoff and Kyle. V scored, assisted by Drew. P and Mason. D to make it 3-2 with only 22 seconds left to play. Again, Ingersoll stayed with 6 men on the ice to try and tie the game. After a mad scramble along the boards, it looked like the game was all but over, with 3.8 seconds left to go Ingersoll’s Brandt. K put the puck in the back of the net and tied the game, sending it into overtime!!!!! Overtime was a 5-minute period, played 3 on 3 and Ingersoll sent Brandt. K, Drew. P and Ryan. W on the ice to try and complete the comeback. Ingersoll wouldn’t need those 5 minutes though, with only 26 seconds gone in the OT period, Ingersoll’s Brandt. K scored the game winner once again to send Ingersoll to the Novice finals later that day! The Ingersoll Express team would complete the comeback, being down 2 goals with less than 45 seconds to go in the 3rd!

Later that day Ingersoll returned to the Tillsonburg arena to take on the Tillsonburg 2 Novice team in the finals of the Max Partlo Memorial Tournament. Both teams had played great round robin and semi-final games and deserved to be at this moment. The game began on an unsteady moment when a Tillsonburg player could skate in and beat #18 Graeme. A for the first goal of the game. This unfortunately was the theme for the final game and even with some amazing attempts by Drew. P, Brandt. K and Mason. D, the Tillsonburg 2 Novice team came away with a 6-0 win against Ingersoll.
