On Dec 12th the Ingersoll
Express Novice LL #1 Anderson Appliances team took on one of their toughest
challengers yet, The Ingersoll Express LL #3 team who has been a top 5 team all
year and would be a really good test for the Novice LL #1 group.
Not only was this the first game for the Novice LL #1 and #3 teams to play one another, but also it was the first time this season that siblings, Ryan. W and Nathan. W would face off against each other to once and for all determine their households best hockey star. With Graeme. A back in net, the LL #1 team was really hoping he could once again stand on his head and keep them close during the game as he has done in his previous showings. This showed to be true right off the bat as the Novice LL #3 team was pushing hard on the net all period in the 1st. The game was back and forth with good play from both sides, with #6 Brandt K getting numerous chances on net along with #4 Mason. D. The Novice LL #1 was the first team to open the scoring when #16 Travis. N was back checking for the puck and decided to turn on the after burners, skated right up into the offensive zone for a beauty shot on net which was initially stopped but he was able to tuck in the rebound. The 1st would wind down with the Novice LL #1 team leading 1-0.
The 2nd period was much of the same tough hockey, both teams constantly battling back and forth which was reflected in the scoreless period. During the 2nd period the Novice LL #3 group did not let up, they kept the pressure on Graeme. A in net and had him working overtime with some amazing stops. Some of the saves were incredible and it would not have been a surprise if the OPP showed up as Graeme was robbing the Novice LL #3 team all period long as possible goals. The Novice LL #1 team did not give up though and was still going hard to increase their lead, #5 Drew. P was playing tough defense along the offensive blue line holding the puck in to keep the scoring chances coming.
As the 3rd period begun it could be seen that the Novice LL# 3 team was not going to go home without a fight and with about 4 minutes left in the 3rd period, they finally were able to beat Graeme. A in net and tied the game up 1-1. As time wound down in the third the game ended 1-1 and both teams played an amazing game.
The Ingersoll Express Novice LL #1 Anderson Appliances team played a full 3 period game of hockey and never gave up. They once again showed that they could match up against top tier teams in the league and came away with some much needed league points.
