Tremblett’s Grocery Boys Bag Win
The Tremblett’s Your Independent Grocer Peewee AE Express bagged their first win of the Southern Counties playoffs last week against the Paris Wolfpack.  The Express also played the Ayr Flames during the week.

Hosting the Wolfpack last Monday night, the Express fell behind twice but rallied both times to tie and eventually take the lead.  After Paris scored early in the first, Ethan Martire capitalized on a Wolfpack mistake.  Lucas Turner’s hard forechecking forced Paris to give up the puck in front of their own net to a waiting Martire who buried the rebound off his initial shot.

Paris scored twice early in the second despite Ingersoll taking control of the majority of the play.  The Express kept pressuring the Wolfpack and their hard work paid off as Landon Pare’s forechecking forced another error and Martire pounced netting his second of the game high over the goalie’s shoulder.  Emmitt Robinson tied the game at 3 with under a minute to play in the second as he broke free from a scrum inside the Express blue line on a breakaway, deking to his forehand and burying the puck high into the net.

The third period was again dominated by the Express.  Five minutes into the frame, Martire completed the hat trick snapping a hard shot past the netminder after picking up the rebound off a Colin VanDyk shot.  The remainder of the game was tense and hard fought but in the end the Wolfpack could not get another one past goaltender Dawson Sharpe.  Tremblett’s picked up a hard earned win and looked ahead to their matchup with the Ayr Flames on the weekend.

Ayr came out hard, catching the Tremblett’s squad a little sleepy scoring on the second shift of the game.  The grocery boys found their legs and competed hard as the score remained 1-0 until the 11 minute mark of the third when Ayr took a 2-0 lead.  The boys continued to battle, getting stronger as the game progressed but 2 late goals in the last 2 minutes ended any chance of a comeback.  The final score was Ayr 4, Ingersoll 0.  The boys continue their playoffs this week.
