Victory for Unifor Local 88 Midget Rep in the Second Round of OMHA Playdowns
Ingersoll found success against Port Colborne in the second round of the OMHA playdowns as they kept their winning ways going sweeping the series in 3 straight.

Jan. 25th - Unifor Local 88 made their way down to Port Colborne’s beautiful arena on a sunny Sunday afternoon for a game.  Ingersoll opened the game with a beauty tic-tac-toe goal from Rizzo to Graham ending on the stick of Dzyngel into the net 1-0.  Shortly thereafter, Rizzo works real hard in the offense end to cause a turn over and scores on a forehand to backhand deke.  Ingersoll is up 2-0 at the end of the first period.

In the beginning of the second period Jeff Couse goes in strong and gets off a good shot where Graham picks up the rebound to make it 3-0.  Port Colborne would score two goals to bring the game back to within 1.  Feeling the heat Ingersoll would put the pressure back on the opposition as Jeff Couse goes to the net to drop a pass off to Rizzo where he would score his second goal of the game.  Ingersoll now up 4-2.  Feeling comfortable with their lead Ingersoll would go into cruise control with three unanswered goals from Lindsay (2) and Dzyngel.  Ingersoll wins the first game 7-3.

Jan. 31st - Back at home in a packed arena Ingersoll would find themselves against a tough and determined Port Colborne team.  Ingersoll again would open the scoring as Wein picks up the puck on the blue line and puts the snapshot past the goalie 1-0 Ingersoll.  Port Colborne would capitalize on a power-play to tie the game 1-1.  Ingersoll would take over the lead for good as Rizzo puts a shot just over the net and the rebound off the boards goes back to Dzyngel for an easy tap in.  Ingersoll now leading 2-1.  This game would end with both teams filling the penalty box on both sides, but the Unifor Local 88 midget rep boys win 2-1 and taking a 2-0 strangle hold on the best of 5 series.

Feb. 3rd –On a Tuesday night Ingersoll’s arena was packed once again.  This night the Ingersoll fans were hoping for a series sweep and that’s what they got!!  With Malchesky in net the boys would pull out a 7-0 shutout on a depleted Port Colborne team that showed up.  Port Colborne showed strong for the first period keeping it a scoreless game, but the pressure from Ingersoll was too much.  Goal scorers for Ingersoll were Goyette (2), Dunn (2), Graham, Gedies, and Lindsay.

Up next, Unifor Local 88 are matched against Ayr in the quarter finals in the OMHA playdowns.
