Tremblett’s, Caledonia Go To Game 6
The Tremblett’s Your Independent Grocer Atom AE Express have come all the way back from a four point deficit to send their OMHA Playdown series with Caledonia to a sixth and final game.  After losing the first two games of the series and falling behind four points to zero in the six point series, and trailing 5 points to 3 entering game 5, the Express have forced game six with a win Thursday in Caledonia tying the series at 5 points apiece.

The Tremblett boys started strong capitalizing on an early penalty taken by Caledonia.  Emmitt Robinson took a centring pass from Jax Nguyen and one-timed it past the Thunder goaltender.  Also assisting on the play was Ethan Capern.  The play continued end to end with neither team scoring through the first period.

The grocery boys found themselves two men short early in the second in what became a penalty filled game.  Caledonia took advantage evening the score just prior to the first penalty expiring.  Again, no more goals were to be had through the remainder of the second period.

Tensions were high on the ice and maybe higher in the stands as the third period wore on, neither team able to break the deadlock, both killing off penalties and pressing for the go ahead goal.  With just under a minute remaining in the game, Lucas Turner won a battle for the puck along the boards and got the puck to Nguyen behind the net.  Nguyen fed Bryson Green in the slot and Green fired the puck behind the goaltender to put the Express in the lead.  Caledonia pressed to get the equalizer but failed, giving the Express a hard earned win and tying the series at 5 points apiece.  Game 6, the deciding game of the series, goes Monday in Ingersoll at 7pm.

The Tremblett’s boys also started their Southern Counties playoffs this weekend with a tough 2-0 loss to the Ayr Flames.  Despite dominating the first two periods, the boys couldn’t get one past the Ayr goalie.  Ayr managed to score twice late in the second period on a nice solo effort and a wraparound goal shortly thereafter.  The grocery boys will continue these playoffs in the coming weeks.
