The Burford Coyotes visited the Memorial
Centre Jan. 29th for a game against your Ingersoll Brokerlink Atom
rep team. A new win streak began for Ingersoll with the 4-2 victory over the
Coyotes. Carter Spence started in goal for Ingersoll and played two impressive
periods before Jeremy Hardeman took over for the third.
Midway through the first, Gavin Bryant split the Burford defence then avoided a poke check before depositing the puck in the Burford net to open the scoring. A scramble in front of the Burford net produced Ingersoll’s second goal. Cohen Alexander found the loose puck and slapped it in the net for a 2-0 Ingersoll lead. Cohen Belore and Brayden Wright received assists. Spence made a great save on a breakaway attempt with one and a half to play in the first. Bryant made an excellent defensive play before the clock ran out to end the opening period.
Two minutes into the second period, Burford cut the lead in half. Ingersoll was unable to clear their zone and Burford won the battle for the loose puck in front of the net. With four to go in the second, Spence faced down a Burford player that skated in alone but shot wide of the Ingersoll net. The Brokerlink penalty kill went to work to end the second with great effort.
Five minutes into the third, an Ingersoll turnover in their own end resulted in a Burford shot to the top corner to tie the game at two. With eight to play, Adam VanDyk fired a shot from the blue line in the offensive zone. The puck landed on the stick of Bryant who swiftly fed a pass to Belore out front of the net. Belore beat the goalie top shelf for a 3-2 Ingersoll advantage. Bryant carried the puck out from the Burford corner with four minutes to play as the Burford defenders watched. The shot was saved, but the rebound was banged in by Belore for an insurance marker. Hardeman made some great saves as the game was coming to an end.
This was the first game of a home and home against Burford. Ingersoll will travel to Burford on Monday Feb. 2nd for a 7 pm. start. The Brokerlink Boys are still waiting for the winner of the Paris-Simcoe series for their next opponent in the Southern County playdowns.
