Searles Novice Rep's win game 1 over Paris of the OMHA play downs!
Searles Novice Rep's started the OMHA play downs with a 6-2 win over Paris in game 1 of the 6pt series.  The series continues with game 2 this upcoming Friday in Paris.

The boys travelled to the den of the Wolf Pack on Sat night and chased the pack out and claimed the victory.  It was a dominating win with most of the action taking place in the Paris end and the Express firing on all cylinders.

After the introductions were over and the puck was dropped, Nicholas Yorowski immediately went down the ice and buzzed the tower with a high wrist shot off the glass.  Paris quickly grabbed the rebound and streaked down the ice on Nathan White who turned the scoring attempt aside.  Then Jack Wolfe with his best Bobby Orr impersonation takes the puck end to end and passes it out front where Ethan Cuthbert and Tyler Watts each attempt to put the puck on the net but Nicholas grabs the bouncing puck and capitalizes when the Paris goalie is out of position and put's Ingersoll up 1-0.  The boys then have a defensive breakdown and Paris breaks in on a 2-0 and evens the score 1-1.  Before the end of the period Brody Williams finds Nicholas out front with a back hand pass and the puck just misses the net.  The 1st period ends 1-1.

The 2nd period starts almost the same as the 1st period as Tyler Watts bulls his way through the Paris defence to start the period putting a shot on net.  With Ingersoll applying pressure the puck is passed out to Nathan Crane on defence by Ethan, who then receives the return pass from Nathan Crane creating a great scoring chance.  Brandon Plaquet is then streaking down the far wing and Nicholas hits him in stride with a tape to tape pass that goes from blueline to blueline and ends with another scoring attempt for Ingersoll.  The puck is then out front and Jack and Colton MacPherson win the battle and Brody is there to bury the puck in the net for Ingersoll and a 2-1 lead.  Looking to make it 2 goals in less than a minute, off the faceoff Brody follows up his goal with a breakaway but the Paris goalie makes a nice save.  With Ingersoll all over the Paris goalie Ty Shapton and Willie Parson create a scoring chance and the puck squirts loose and Colton is there in the slot to fire the puck off the post and in for a 3-1 lead.  After an offensive faceoff win, the puck is passed back to Nathan Pike who fires a laser from the point which goes off the post and somehow stays out of the net.  Paris then catches a break and has a breakaway on Nathan who again is up to the challenge making the save.  The momentum then changes as Colton and Nathan Crane move the puck to Nicholas in the Ingersoll end and he does his best Gretzky impersonation and goes end to end and finishes with a wrist shot to the top corner.  The 2nd period ends with Paris on the PP and the score 4-1 for Ingersoll.

The 3rd period treats us to a play that you don't see very often, with the ref's hand in the air for a delayed offside, Willie fires the puck on net from centre ice, the puck beats the goalie and goes around the entire net and sits on the goal line.  The Paris goalie thinking that he let a goal in just sits there while the ref's didn't see the puck go in so there is no whistle and lucky for the Paris goalie his defenceman finally moves the puck as the Ingersoll players were flying in at him.  Ingersoll then kills off another penalty by staying on the attack the entire Paris PP and manage to create a few scoring attempts.  Paris adds another goal to make it 4-2 however Tyler Watts takes over when he unleashes a blazing wrist shot that beats the Paris goalie with the pass coming from Ty Shapton and then Tyler Watts redirects a beautiful pass from Ethan to make it 6-2.

The boys were solid all night and Nathan White picks up the win between the pipes.

Team first!
