Express Train Back On The Winning Track!

The Butterworth's Ingersoll Express Tyke Select travelled down the 402 for a rematch with the Strathroy Rockets.  In the first period it was Wyatt Thompson (assisted by Ryan Wolfe and Brandon Plaquet) who opened the scoring to give the Express a 1-0 lead.  Express starting goalie Christopher Hardeman kept the Express in it pushing back the Rockets five scoring opportunities.  Hardeman was replaced by rookie netminder Riley Vyse for the second period.  Vyse turned away four Rockets attempts but the Rockets managed to lift one over his glove to get the score even. Jonah Martire (assisted by Sam House and Wyatt Thompson) got the Express back on top as he found daylight between the goalies five hole. For the remainder of the second and the third frame both teams went back and forth with some scoring chances.  Hardeman once again kept his team on top with some remarkable saves in the final period.  The Express were given some breathing room when winger Sam House (Wyatt Thompson and Cole McNeil who was missing last week with the flu took a great feed from McNeil and Thompson and found that low corner for the 3-1 lead.
Next up for the Tyke Selects is a battle with the Brantford 99ers.
