Nov. 21 – Pharmasave Tyke Selects First Game of 2013
After a few weeks of hard practicing the Ingersoll Tyke Select
team had their first game at the Belmont Arena.
Ingersoll Pharmasave Express Tyke Selects vs. Dorchester
Tyke Selects.
Before the kids got on the Ice, the coaching staff reminded the team of three important rules…
i.) Off the Boards and out…
ii.) Go hard to the Puck
iii.) Have Fun!!!
As the coaching staff predicted, the Dorchester team came out hard and hungry for a win. The pace of the game was fast right from the start which caught the Ingersoll Tykes off guard at first. Within the first five minutes Dorchester scored the first goal. At that point the Ingersoll Express Tykes picked up the pace to match the Hungry Dorchester team. Ingersoll matched Dorchester’s efforts throughout the rest of the first period and was rewarded by their efforts when #31- S. Bryant accepted a pass from #9-C. MacPherson in close, and beat the Dorchester goalie to even the score 1 to 1.
Dorchester continued to pressure the Ingersoll Tykes which resulted in many scoring chances throughout the rest of the game for the Dorchester team, but #1. M. Cudney shut the door and kept the game close.
With Five minutes remaining in the third period, the Dorchester team’s persistence proved to be a bit more than the Ingersoll Pharmasave Tykes could endure. Dorchester’s previous game experience showed through with good positional play, winning key face-offs, and completing quick passes to the front of the Ingersoll Net. This allowed Dorchester to get 3 goals in the last five minutes to leave the Final Score Ingersoll Tyke Selects 1 and Dorchester Tyke Selects 4.
Even though the outcome was not in favour of our Ingersoll Pharmasave Tyke Selects, there were many positives to build on for our next home game Saturday Nov. 23 vs. St. Thomas. It is going to be an exciting Season!!!
