End of Season Re-Cap for the Carmeuse Minor Midget Rep Team
Phil, the Zamboni driver, gives the Minor Midget Rep Team the 'thumbs up'. From a statistics standpoint, the team finished out their season with a  6 - 33 - 2 record. Visually that stat would appear less than impressive to outsiders.

However, over the season, every player contributed to the best of their ability and improved on their own abilities.  Everyone routinely attended practices, even when spirits were down during our recorded 9-game losing streak.

Every parent will attest that the boys improved, as a team, as the season progressed.

Right from the first official puck drop October 3rd, the Minor Midgets were excellent at killing off penalties and never wavered at doing that – job well done!

There were some games that seen the team down by quite a few goals, but it didn’t appear to those watching from the stands that this impacted each player’s ‘never quit attitude’.  The players just didn’t give up! Kept going, kept trying, and we seen evidence of this during the only 2 games they won, in the 2nd half of the season, against the North Middlesex Stars in the First round of playoffs.

There was a good energy level by the Express players at each and every game - Always playing every game hard, and they should be commended for doing so.  There was never a truer example of battling hard as in the 5th game against the NM Stars when the boys came back to tie it up with just minutes left in regular play to send it into overtime. It was a nail biter and ended in a tie to draw the series out to Game 6.

And while the Esso medals will be handed out to 3 individuals at the banquet, this writer believes that this team, as a whole, exemplified what the medals represent.

Most Sportsman-like Award: Yes, we had a handful of suspensions but overall a very clean season, for this age group, from that perspective.

Most Improved Award: As already mentioned, the players steadily improved as the season went on, especially with their passing.

Most Valuable Award:  The Minor Midget Team had 17 players who gave it their all, adding value to every shift, every period, every game – Period !

One final comment to IDMHA – Thanks !!  Thanks for adding the year-end 3 on 3 midget intersquad games to round out the season.    All 17 players on this team signed up to play – I truly believe that speaks volumes – It says these boys ''love the game’’.
