On Nov 14th the
Minor Midget Rep team welcomed the solid 1st place Mt Brydges Cougars to our barn. Overall, the first period was a great effort by every
Express player. We saw vast improvement in the team with only being down by 2 goals when the period closed out.
Awesome tape to tape passing seen in 2nd period with Ingersoll getting on the score sheet 6 minutes in with a goal by Freeman (Warnock, Chevrier). The opponents were quick to prey on the team’s efforts by scoring 30 seconds later. Penalties were kept to a minimum all game by the Express squad, good job !
The 3rd period started with good fore-checking and shots on net. Power play chance 3 minute into the period produced 2 shots on net. Had to work extremely hard to kill off two 4 min penalties but luck turned around and pain minimized with 4 on 3 play due to the Cats going to the box too. Malchesky had an excellent game but Mt Brydges did score with 5 minutes remaining to take a prowling 4 1 lead. An outburst of energy by the players, with 3 min left to play, and 10 shots recorded against their goalie – one shot by Dimmers (Warnock, Schneider) went in! The momentum continued and with 22 seconds remaining on the clock we pulled our goalie. Truly a valiant effort by all this game - final went to the Cougars 4 2.
