A little Hockey, little swimming, good food, great weather, great people equal a fantastic weekend!!
Even though the buses were cancelled, Ingersoll’s Verspeeten Cartage/Carmeuse Lime Pee Wee LL team was up and on the roads early headed to their first game in Port Colborne against Cayuga.  Megan Longlade, Brodi Carbaugh, Nathan Graham, Colin Dench, Camden McDougall, Keegan Purdy, Ethan Laporte, Owen Longlade, Nolan Costa, Matthew Debryun, Ethan Vlemmix, Cole Millard, Kiara Haley and David Timleck all made the drive to do what they love to do…. Play Hockey!!

The puck dropped and they were off.  Nearing the end of the first period, Cayuga scores.  First period ended with Cayuga in the lead 1-0.  Ingersoll makes a come back in the second period with Camden Mcdougall assisting Nathan Graham in scoring the first goal and a min later Nolan Costa assists Camden McDougall with the second goal.  Ingersoll is in the lead at the end of the second period 2-1.  Halfway through the third period Cayuga scores again ending the game with a 2-2 tie score.

After a brief afternoon break, the team once again laced up for their second game at 5pm against Port Colborne. With the much larger ice surface then they are use to, the team had their work cut out for them.  They scored in the first 3 min with Cole Millard and Nolan Costa assisting Camden McDougall.  First period ended with Ingersoll in the lead 1-0.  Port Colborne stepped up their game to score 2 goals in the second period.  A tough third period as Ingersoll goes on the defense to hold the opposition.  Final score of 2-1 for Port Colborne.  Ingersoll’s third game was Saturday at 5:30 against Port Dover. Port Dover comes in hard and scores their first 2 goals in the first 7 minutes of the period.  Keegan Purdy and Nolan Costa assist Camden McDougall with scoring Ingersoll’s first goal less then a minute left on the clock.  Second period is an eventful one as Port Dover plays an aggressive game while continually attempting to play with more then 5 players.   Ingersoll holds their defense.  Ethan Laporte assists Camden McDougall in scoring Ingersoll’s second goal at the beginning of the third period.  Final buzzer sounded with a 2-2 tie score.  Congratulations to all the players for keeping their heads in the game and playing some good games.  Those that scored couldn’t have done it without the rest of their team.  On Monday February 24th Ingersoll hosted a home game against Norwich.  It was a fast paced game with Ingersoll on the offense and getting some great shots on new. Norwich’s goalie was on the ball as he made some great saves.  Final game score of 0-1 for Norwich.

As the team takes a few days off the ice to rest, they play their next game Friday February 28th at 7pm in Simcoe followed by a game in Norwich at 3pm on Sunday March 2nd.  The final game is Monday at 7pm in Port Dover.  Good luck to all the players! Hope to see you all play in the play offs this year!!
