Novice L.L.Team Butterworths makes it to Semi Finals in Tillsonburg Tournie
Team Butterworths had a stellar performance in the multi-day Tillsonburg tournament Friday March 21-Sunday March 23.



The kids were excited to miss school for a day of hockey. We started bright eyed and bushy tailed Friday morning for our 8:15am game against Tillsonburg. Both teams were very evenly matched. The game remained scoreless until Team Butterworth's #16 E. Cuthbert scored assisted by #17 A. Georgiou and #10 C. Hardeman two minutes into the second period. Ingersoll held onto the lead for the rest of the game. Final score 1-0 for Team Butterworths.

Team Butterworths returned for a 3:30pm game against the Ayr Flames. Despite the tougher competitor, Ingersoll played a strong game. Ayr took the lead in the first period with two goals. With two minutes remaining in the first period, #20 N. Pike scored unassisted. The action continued as the Flames scored two goals. Team Butterworths added another point to the Ingersoll scoreboard with a goal from #3 M. Vervaecke assisted by #7 C. Brownscombe and #6 E. Cuthbert. Twenty seconds later, the Flames scored again. Ingersoll retaliated with a goal scored by #6 E. Cuthbert. Twenty seconds later, again, the Flames scored their sixth goal. Ingersoll continued playing well. With great goaltending from #1 M. Cudney, they held off Ayr from scoring futher despite playing shorthanded for a two minute tripping penalty. Final score of game two Ayr 6; Ingersoll 3.

Team Butterworths returned to Tillsonburg for their 4:45pm game against Thorold. Team Butterworths had their game faces on with determination to win. The first period ended scoreless.  The second period picked up with #20 N. Pike scoring unassisted one minute into the period. Team Butterworths continued the scoring streak when #3 M. Vervaecke scored assisted by #15 J.Kloepfer. Thorold added a number to the scoreboard with two minutes left in the second period. The excitement continued into the third period when #20 N. Pike scored assisted by#3 M. Vervaecke with two minutes into the final period. Team Butterworths finished off with a bang, #6 E. Cuthbert scored unassisted and with only 20 seconds left in the game, #20 N. Pike completed the game with his hat trick. Team Butterworths defeated Thorold 5-1. Onwards to the semi final game on Sunday.

We headed back to Tillsonburg to face the undefeated Paris Wolfpack Sunday morning. Ingersoll had faced this team previously in the Paris tournament and knew they were a tough contender. Team Butterworths worked hard at holding off the Wolfpack from scoring throughout the first and most of the second period. Paris scored with only twenty five seconds left in the second period. Two minutes into the third period, Paris added another goal to their score. Team Butterworths battled hard to catch up. With only a minute left in the game, #16 E. Cuthbert scored unassisted. Paris came back with another goal with only twenty two seconds left in the game. Final score Paris 3; Ingersoll 1.

What a great end to the season! It was awesome to see all the players mesh together and play as a team. All the credit goes to the amazing coaches; trainers and team manager that we had. There is no end to the thanks that we owe you for our successful 2013/2014 season!
