Hat trick for #16 E. Cuthbert in Carmeuse Invitational Game
Team Butterworths Novice Local League played a friendly exhibition game against St. Mary's in the annual Carmeuse Invitational tournament the morning of Saturday, February 15th. Although, Team Butterworths gave it their best effort, they had a 8-5 loss.


St. Marys started off strong with a goal thirty seconds into the period. They scored again two minutes, then four minutes later. Team Butterworths recouped with #16 E. Cuthbert scoring his first of three with three and half minutes left in the first period. St. Marys scored again with only forty three seconds left. The first period ended 4-1 in favour of St. Marys.

Not letting up on the pressure, St. Marys scored thirty seconds into the period. Team Butterworths added a number to the scoreboard when #12 J. Kloepfer passed to #16 E. Cuthbert who popped it into the net. Three minutes later, St. Marys scored and managed another goal with only thirty seconds left in the period. Second period ended 7-2.

The extra two minutes in the third period, gave Team Butterworths a chance to catch up. #19 B. Plaquet passed to #16 E. Cuthbert to score.
Eight seconds later, St. Mary's scored their final goal of the game. Team Butterworths rallied hard for the next six minutes to hold off St. Marys. With three minutes left in the period, #16 shot the puck at the St. Marys goalie, #3 M. Vervaecke picked up the rebound and fired it into the net. One minute later, defenceman, #19 B. Plaquet got his second assist passing the puck to #20 N. Pike who out deked the St. Marys goalie. Final score of the game, 8-5 for St. Marys.
