Midgets Win Regional Silver Stick
The Ingersoll Express CAW Local 88 Midget Rep team became Regional Silver Stick Champions with a convincing 3-0  victory over the Mt. Brydges Cougars on Jan 2nd in Petrolia. It was the third time these two teams met in the tournament with Ingersoll winning 4-1 on Dec. 30th and Mt. Brydges taking the New Years Day game 4-0.

After a scoreless first period in the championship game Ingersoll had a 5 on 3 man advantage late in the second period when Scott Arts passed to Jacob Parkhill who capitalized on a point shot with Peter Wey screening in front of the net. Twenty-nine seconds later Michael Nutt made it 2-0 banging home a Peter Wey rebound. Ryan Allard scored early in the third period with Austin Kielt drawing the assist. Michael Hazen played great in net to get the win and the shutout.
Previously this year the Cougars had beaten Ingersoll in the championship game of a tournament in Aylmer so it was sweet revenge for the Local 88 players.
Ingersoll opened the Silver Stick Dec. 27th with a 6-1 win over Lambeth Lancers led by Kyle Crossman with a hat trick. Peter Wey, Jacob Parkhill and Brett Nicholson all had goals with assists going to Michael Nutt (3),Quintin Pow (2), Graham Hall, and Branden Taylor. The win was costly as the Express lost rugged right winger Jordan Travis for the rest of the tournament due to an upper body injury.
The next day Ingersoll made the trip to Petrolia once again and Kyle Crossman repeated his three goal performance as the CAW Local 88 squad easily handled Aylmer Flames with a 7-0 win. Michael Nutt and Austin Kielt both scored twice. Branden Taylor had three assists while Dylan Robinson, Joshua Taylor, Pow, Arts, Nutt, Parkhill and Nicholson had helpers. Randy Weatherhead stopped all 15 shots he faced for the win.
Mt. Brydges and Ingersoll met on Dec. 30 in a very important game as they were the only two undefeated teams left in a double knockout format. Ingersoll prevailed in a 4-1 win to take the easy route and bye to the finals where they would have to be beaten twice. That proved to be invaluable as they needed that extra game to win the championship. Goal scores in this game were Branden Taylor, Michael Nutt, Dylan Robinson and Jacob Parkhill.
The team now plays Jan. 11 to 13th in the International Silver Stick in Forest against teams from as far away as Dallas Texas and Tampa Florida. The coaches would like to congratulate the players for their hard work and dedication to sticking to the game plan. Also the team sends congrats to the Searles Motors Novice Rep team who were also Silver Stick Champs.
