They went…they played…they brought home the hardware!  Congratulations to the hard working Thamesford Pizza team who swept the Clifford Minor Hockey Bantam LL Tournament Sat. Jan. 19th, 2013.

With the complete roster at play for the first time in weeks, the boys formed a solid team armour which lead them to victory.

Starting the morning with a rough battle against Kincardine, the boys managed to keep their heads in the game & play to a 3-1 win.  Back to back goals came from Dakota Lednicky (assisted by Brady Shapton) with the final goal of the game coming from Nick Likins, assisted by Mike Veale.

After a team lunch to regroup & refuel, the players would enter their most vital game of the tournament…the win or go home game vs. Ripley.  Lednicky scored first off a pass from Gage Langille followed by the game winner from Brock Swain, assisted by Shapton, sending Ingersoll to the finals.  Final score:  2-1.

About the same time the NHL dropped their first pucks of the season, so did our boys take the ice for the Championship game.  With adrenaline flowing, Shapton started up the score board on a pass from Craig Wild, setting the momentum for the rest of the game.  Lednicky ended the scoring streak with a hat-trick + 1.  Taking home the championship with a 5-1 win.

With our great goaltending by Seth Deakin, our defence providing a wall of security and our forwards rushing the plays, only 3 goals against our team was attained throughout the entire tournament.  Each player was a vital component to making this tournament a success.  The bench staff is proud to stand behind their boys as each player had highlighted moments throughout the tournament.

Congratulations Team!  Chocolate Milk really does do the body good!  Cheers!

Thanks for a great day boys & for strong leadership from Lee, Jeff, Chet, Ken & Mark.
