    C.E.P.U. Loses to Burford

Saturday, the Ingersoll Bantam LL C.E.P.U. travelled to Burford for an afternoon game.  Ingersoll entered the game in 4th place in the 2nd half standings and chasing the 2nd place team, Burford.  The game was an important one for Ingersoll to keep them ahead of the hard charging 5th place Waterford team.

The first period would tell the tale of the game as Burford scored 3 times on broken plays including an own goal by Ingersoll.  The period would end with Ingersoll trailing by 3.

In the 2nd period Ingersoll played a stronger period, but could not manage to hit the score sheet and would head to the 3rd period still down by 3.

At 8:03 of the 3rd period it looked like C.E.P.U. would claw their way back into the game when Brodie Warnock scored on a shot along the ice after taking a pass from Jacob Vanderheide.  Also assisting on the goal was Johnathan Ager.  This would be all that Ingersoll could muster up for the game as time and time again they would come close with the goaltender Josh Loranger on the bench with 2 ½ minutes left in the game.

The 3-1 loss moves C.E.P.U. to 5 and 5 for the 2nd half of the season with 4 games remaining.  It will take some strong play now to finish up the remaining games and hold onto the last playoff spot.  C.E.P.U. has 2 games left versus Simcoe and 2 left versus Ingersoll #2, Thamesford Pizza.

Player of the game went to Austin George for his hustle and hard fore checking including a solid check delivered to one of the Burford’s bigger defence.

Ingersoll's next game is next Monday, February 18th at 8:00 PM when they host their hometown rivals Ingersoll – Thamesford Pizza in another crucial standings game.  The rest of C.E.P.U.’s games are important in the quest for the final playoff spot.
