    Lights Out in Port Dover

Sunday, the Ingersoll Bantam LL C.E.P.U. travelled to Port Dover to complete the tail end of a home and home series this week.  Monday night Ingersoll blanked the Pirates 4-0 and it was expected that the Dover team on their own turf would come out hungry for revenge.  Both teams entered play battling for position in the 2nd half and a victory to either could have a drastic effect on the overall standings as the 2nd half winds down.

Once again, like Monday, both teams competed hard in the first period as play was up and down the ice and high paced.  With a number of missed chances, mostly for C.E.P.U. it looked like the scoreless battle might go on for the whole game.

In the 2nd period Ingersoll would hit the score sheet when Jared Campbell tucked a forehanded one timer through the 5 hole of the Dover goalie, Liam Misner.  Campbell took a pass from Noah Schonberger from behind the net, a recent favorite spot for Noah.  Also assisting on the goal was Jacob Vanderheide.

It was shortly after that goal that the “Lights Went Out”.  While play was in progress the arena lights went out in the arena and Ingersoll was wondering if this was some type of Superbowl scheme to get Dover back into the game.  At this point Ingersoll was out shooting Dover 15-6 and they were in control of the game.

Knowing full well that the Port team would not give up easy, the Ingersoll team played solid offensive and defensive hockey with continuous pressure on the Dover players and did not give up any easy chances although as expected Dover pressured more as the time ticked away in the 3rd frame.  All of Dover’s shots were turned away by C.E.P.U. goaltender, Josh Loranger who would eventually earn his 5th shutout of the season.  Ingersoll with their solid play would score 1 more time before the end of the third when Zach Catry notched his 3rd of the year as he jumped in on a juicy rebound in front of the Dover net.  Assisting on the goal was his defence partner Daniel Maloney and left winger Johnathan Ager.

Player of the game went to Kevin Cox for his offensive and defensive performance.  Kevin made a number of great rushes up the ice and played a solid game defensively as well to help Loranger to his shutout.

Ingersoll's next game is next Monday, February 11th at 8:00 PM when they host their rivals from Norwich in another crucial standings game.  Ingersoll C.E.P.U. came out on top with a 1-0 win during their last game in Norwich.  It should be exciting.
