C.E.P.U. Loses Hard Fought Battle in Waterford
Saturday afternoon, the Ingersoll Bantam LL C.E.P.U. travelled to Waterford to take on the pesky Wildcats. Ingersoll would make the trip knowing full well that they would need to battle as they would start the game with 7 skaters and a Hot Goalie.
It looked like it was going to be a long afternoon when Waterford opened the scoring 43 seconds after the first puck drop. Alex Math would make a rush after getting the pass from Peyton Cameron and slide it past Ingersoll goalie Josh Loranger. There would be no more scoring for the rest of the 1st period and also none in the 2nd. Ingersoll had a close chance when Zach Catry rung one off the post, but luck was on the side of the Waterford goalie as the puck stayed out of the cage.
Early in the 3rd Ingersoll would lose another skater when one of their players received his 3rd penalty of the game. The remaining 6 skaters battled to kill the penalty and almost tied up the game on a number of occasions. Waterford would stretch the lead to 2 when they scored on a high wrist shot with 2:46 left. With just under 2 minutes left with the Ingersoll goalie on the bench and the remainder of the team on the ice there were a number of chances again to get one past the Waterford goalie, but it was just not their day and they would eventually lose the battle 2-0.
Ingersoll's next game is next Monday, February 4th at 8:00 PM when they host Port Dover at the Ingersoll Arena. C.E.P.U. looks forward to having their suspended players all returning for the game and hopes to get back to their winning ways.
