    C.E.P.U. Back on Track

Monday night, the Ingersoll Bantam LL C.E.P.U. played host to the Pirates from Port Dover.  Both teams entered play battling for position in the 2nd half standings and Ingersoll was out to get back on track with all their suspended players back on the bench.

Both teams competed hard in the first period as play was up and down the ice and high paced.  With a number of missed chances, mostly for C.E.P.U. it looked like the scoreless battle might go on for the whole game.

In the 2nd period Ingersoll would hit the score sheet when Malcolm Rowe fired a bullet shot from just inside the blueline, which eluded the Port Dover Goalie.  Assisting on the goal was Justin Koch.  Just over 4 minutes later, C.E.P.U. would tally again when Zach Catry, unassisted, fired a hard wrist shot from face off dot to the right of the Port Dover net that snuck though the goalie giving C.E.P.U. a 2-0 lead at the end of 2 periods.

Knowing full well that the Port team would not give up easy, the Ingersoll team played solid offensive and defensive hockey with continuous pressure on the Dover players and did not give up any easy chances.  All of Dover’s shots were turned away by C.E.P.U. goaltender, Josh Loranger who would eventually earn his 4th shutout of the season.  Ingersoll with their solid play would be rewarded 2 more times before the end of the third when Justin Koch notched his 2nd of the year on a pass from Austin George and Rowe would get his 2nd of the game (4th of the year) after taking an offensive zone draw from Center Brodie Warnock which he would flip towards the net and have it be knocked in by a Dover Defence.

Player of the game went to Malcolm Rowe for his offensive and defensive performance.  Earlier in the game Rowe had a goal called back when he sniped another shot from the blueline, but it was not allowed as the play was called on an offside.  No Hat trick tonight.  The whole team played a great game from top to bottom and it was evident that having a full team on the bench, following recent suspensions, was a key to the solid performance.

Ingersoll's next game is next Saturday, February 9th at 2:20 PM when they host Woolwich for an exhibition game at the Ingersoll Arena for the Carmeuse Lime Invitational Day.  Ingersoll heads to Dover for the tail end of the home and home on Sunday, February 10th at 5:30 pm to resume league play.
