Ingersoll C.E.P.U. Finishes Weekend with Another Tie
Ingersoll C.E.P.U. 3264 came out of the gate flying on Sunday afternoon in Waterford. With sustained pressure off the opening faceoff, Jared Campbell made a perfect pass to a waiting Daniel Maloney who unloaded a laser shot to get Ingersoll off to a 1-0 lead 35 seconds into the game. Also assisting on the opening goal was Johnathan Ager.
Waterford stepped up their game in the 2nd period when they scored 2 unanswered goals with the 2nd one coming with only 45 seconds left in the period. Just when it looked like Ingersoll would be looking for another 3rd period comeback, just like the day before, Austin George drew the Ingersoll squad even with 12 seconds left in the period. Ager recorded his 2nd assist of the night while Noah Schonberger also got on the scoresheet with an assist.
With the teams trading chances in the 3rd, it was left up to the goalies to decide who would be the ultimate winner today. As it would have it, both goalies were stingy and the game ended in a 2-2 draw due to the fine work between the pipes from Bryce Matthews (Waterford) and Josh Loranger (Ingersoll). Loranger turning in another fine performance showed once again that when his team needs him he is ready to answer the bell and gives his team a chance every game.
Ingersoll hosts Simcoe on Monday night at the Ingersoll Arena at 8:00 pm.
