The R. McNiven and Sons Insurance Ingersoll Express Atom Rep
team returned to the ice this week for back to back games against Norwich and
Aylmer.
On Thursday night, the team hosted Norwich. With a depleted roster due to illness, the
team utilized the services of some of their AP players to help them out in the
game. And the AP kids did a great job
and didn’t at all look out of place.
Ingersoll started off the scoring in the first period, with a goal by
Parker Hodgson. This was followed up
quickly with another goal by Daniel Martineau, and the team carried a 2-0 lead
into the period break.
The second period saw more of the same, with goals scored by Nolan Adkins, as well as by Josh Clark on the power play. Norwich was able to solve Ingersoll netminder Logan White once in the second, and after two periods, Ingersoll led 4-1. With one period left to go, Ingersoll just needed to protect their lead.
And protect it they did. Not only did they protect it, they also added to it, with goals by Symon Hutcheson and Brennan Rupert. White was able to turn away all the shots he faced in the third, and Ingersoll won with a final of 6-1.
The team then travelled to Aylmer on Friday night to face a team that they had played twice the previous week. Aylmer is beginning to know the patterns and plays of the Ingersoll team, and this game turned out to be a lot different than the previous games the team had played against Aylmer.
The first period was well played by Ingersoll, especially defensively. The team outshot Aylmer 10-1, but were unable to put one past the Aylmer keeper. The second period started off with Daytn Racicot netting one for the Express, but a short while later Aylmer put up back to back goals to take a 2-1 lead. Ingersoll continued their pressure, and finally that persistence paid off with a shot by Ethan Emerson that found the back of the net.
The teams went into the third period tied at 2-2. And Aylmer did not stop the pressure that they started in the second. Logan White held his ground in the third period though, facing 12 shots and keeping them all out of the net. Express forward Josh Clark was able to put a nifty little play home, and Ingersoll took, and held, a 3-2 lead.
The R. McNiven and Sons Insurance Ingersoll Express Atom Rep team next faces off against Port Dover on Thursday, December 20, before taking a couple days off for the Christmas break.
