Ingersoll Burns Flames in Aylmer
An old rivalry was renewed in Aylmer Sunday night as the Glenda Ponsonby Ing/Oxford Realty Peewee Reps continued their Southern Counties playdowns against the Flames.  The team had started southern counties with a shutout against Langton the previous Wednesday, and were hoping to continue the streak Sunday.

From the drop of the puck, this one was all Express as the team continually drove to the Aylmer net peppering their goalie with shots.  The line of Ethan Stevens, Anthony Ziraldo, and Justin Holmes came oh so close to scoring several times in the first but couldn’t find the twine.  Nathan Gould on the blue line found himself in the same position, letting go blast after blast with his tremendous slapshot, only to be turned away.

Finally in the second period, with a pass from the our puck moving defencemen, Clayton Hammond fed Alex Foster, who broke in on the Aylmer goal while fighting off a defender.  The goalie stopped the initial shot, but Foster kept chipping away and finally popped the puck over the goalie to give Ingersoll a 1-0 lead.

Penalties became the story of the third period, for both teams, almost leading to a goal for Ingersoll as Tanner Gray stepped out of the box, into a pass for a breakaway on the Aylmer net.  His laser beam blast stopped by an outstretched blocker.  Finally with only a couple minutes left to go, with Aylmer coming on strong in the Ingersoll end, Keegan Clark cleared the puck from our zone.  You could hear a pin drop as the puck slid the length of the ice, somehow finding the open goal as Aylmer had pulled the goalie for the extra attacker.

In Ingersoll’s net, goalie Noah Robinson, wasn’t tested very often, but did manage to turn away some tricky shots in the second, and earned the shutout, preserving the team’s Southern Counties shutout streak, now at 2 games.
