Verspeeten Cartage Peewees Play With Passion
This past week saw Verspeeten Cartage Peewees battle on the ice against Simcoe and Tillsonburg.    The Verspeeten Cartage boys have been playing the best games of the year.  Immeasurable passion poured out onto the ice, served up through hockey sticks and skates.

January 24th came and Verspeeten Cartage took the first goal of the game against Simcoe.  The team played like boys on fire.  In fact, this writer wouldn't have been surprised if smoke started billowing up behind each player's skates.  Still, Simcoe managed to get a few too many strange puck bounces or unorthodox lob shots that found a home in the back of the Verspeeten net.

By the game's end, Verspeeten had taken two goals; both were scored by Justin Koch, with assists by Nick Likins and Cody Morrison.  The final score of that game was Simcoe 7, Verspeeten Cartage 2.

Tillsonburg was the location for a  game on January 28th.  It was a very close match-up.  Two goals had been scored by Verspeeten Cartage.  Cody Morrison, assisted by Nick Likins, poked the puck home.  In the third period as the clock ticked down, Marcus Frizelle found a hole through which to fire the puck, following an assist by Johnathen Landsborough.

The final minutes of the game found Tillsonburg with three points, and Verspeeten Cartage peewees with only two.  The coach made the decision to pull the goalie, and the team's power and passion went into high gear.  As Verspeeten Cartage loaded on the pressure, a goal seemed imminent; then it happened: the Zamboni called the ice and the game was curfewed, leaving a final score of three to two, for Tillsonburg.

The next game where Verspeeten Cartage passion will be on display will be January 31st, in Ingersoll, against Langton.  Come on out and support these amazing boys!
