Tirecraft Atom LL Play For Fun, Play To Win
On Sunday Jan. 29th, your Ingersoll Tirecraft Atom LL hockey team travelled to Delhi. The team would endure the weather to get to Delhi, but would fall 2-1 in the game.
Team Tirecraft took control from the opening faceoff with relentless puck pursuit and scoring chances. The team could not solve the Delhi goaltending and were down 1-0 after the first period. Early in the second, Delhi would score a breakaway goal to make it 2-0. Team Tirecraft would not be deflated by the score, they worked harder and skated faster. Finally, with the second period winding down, Camden McDougall would fire a wrist shot top corner to make the score 2-1. Devon Dell and Will Jones drew assists on the goal. Team defence continues to be strong, especially the play of Ethan Laporte and Ryan Bruschetto. Collin Dench and Symon Hucheson both had fine games defending. David Timleck, Brandon Gordon, Colin Van Dyk and Brent Fewster all played great offensively, but could not get the equalizer. Megan Longlade turned in another great performance in net allowing her team the chance to tie.
A story last week in the Times reported that LL teams play recreation hockey. This reporter challenges this suggestion with an invite to watch these kids play. Team Tirecraft are having fun being coached by Paul Jones and his staff, but make no mistake, the team wants to win and play to win.
