Pee Wee Reps Advance to Semi-Finals

Glenda Ponsonby Ingersoll Oxford Realty Pee Wee Reps traveled to Norwich on Thurs. March 15th to face the Knighthawks for their last 2011-2012 regular season game.  Ingersoll displayed a strong, consistent level of play earning them a proud 5-3 win.

Tanner Moon came out strong in the first and scored an unassisted goal at 7:03.  This was not only the first goal for Ingersoll but also the first goal of the game.  Then, during a full-ice back and forth battle, Norwich answered at 4:15 with one of their own, bringing the game to a 1-1 tie come period end.

The second period proved to be…“The Ingersoll Express Show”.  At 6:06 another unassisted goal, this time by Tyler Goyette, put the Express back on top.  The team continued to feed into their new found energy bringing a strong intensity to the game for the duration of the period.  Coming off a face-off in Norwich’s end, Gage Langille recovered a rebound with 1:11 left in the period assisted by Aaron Lonsberry & Jacob Branderhorst.   With goaltender Noah Robinson showing no mercy in net, Ingersoll secured a two goal lead moving into the third.

The Third period was a breath-holding fight to the buzzer.  Norwich was first to light up the scoreboard closing the gap to a 3-2 game.  Ingersoll’s Goyette (assisted by Moon) once again rose to the occasion and responded quickly when he found the back of the net and returned his team to the 2 goal comfort zone.  For the next 11 minutes both teams struggled with opposite desires – Ingersoll to maintain the lead and Norwich to close the gap.  Norwich was first to prevail when they crowded one past Robinson with 2:18 left to play.  With Ingersoll still up by one Norwich chose to pull their Goalie and add the extra attacker.  Fighting hard to hold their ground Ingersoll struggled for the next minute and 10 seconds before Ethan Stevens was able to clear the puck out of Ingersoll’s zone and sent the puck sliding down the ice towards Norwich’s empty net.  Just as it looked as if the puck might curve a little wide, Norwich’s player threw his stick across the ice, knocking the puck right in the middle of the net, securing Stevens’ goal rather than deflecting it.  Now, with a 5-3 score and only a minute eight left in the game, Norwich played to the buzzer with 6 attackers but to no avail.  Final Score:  5-3 Ingersoll Express.

Ingersoll will play Port Dover (in Dover) for their Semi-Final game on Friday March. 23, 2012.
